“Everyone trusted me back then.

Good old, dependable Diana.

Which is why most people didn’t notice at first.”

"Your shirt is yellow."
"Your eyes are blue."
"You have to stop running away from your problems."
"You're too skinny."

Fifteen-year-old Diana Keller accidentally begins teaching The Obvious Game to new kid Jesse on his sixteenth birthday. As their relationship deepens, Diana avoids Jesse's past with her own secrets -- which she'll protect at any cost.

*MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS*
I know the synopsis doesn't really reveal anything, just gives a little hint. So, if you didn't already guess, Diana has an eating disorder. Well, there's only some small signs in the beginning but after all the problems keep piling up (her mother has cancer, her best friend is a total b*tch, things get tough with boyfriend..), things get worse. Really, her eating is all she has control over in the chaos called "life".

So, definitely not a happy read! And I wasn't expecting anything over the moon- happy, yet I was still surprised about how sad this book was. It's sad and angry, but oh so real and wonderful.
Diana was a lovable main character I could easily relate to and I was definitely on her side the whole time, even when you knew her actions didn't make any sense.
I mean, there's actually no sense at all, except in her own mind. She's drinking, having sex, doesn't eat, or when she eats, she throws up.. Her life is a mess, yet that sounds so familiar, cause when I was a teenager, that's how messed up everyone was.

The author did an amazing job with this book, and you could tell she knows what she's talking about. And even though this book talks about eating disorder and cancer, it's surprisingly fun book. There was laughter and tears, but in the end, I was feeling.. hopeful. I'm confident Diana will be fine and will have a happy life. And yes, I know she's a fictional character.

Ever since the one time Andie Weber threw caution to the wind - and paid the price for it - she’s learned that it’s safer and smarter to live life playing by the rules.
Now she’s got a great apartment, a steady job, and a wonderful boyfriend in Colin; he’s sweet, stable, and essentially perfect – except maybe for the fact that his best friend is Chase.

Chase McGuire lives his carefree, unstructured life strictly for himself. Dripping sarcasm and oozing wit, he refuses to censor his feelings or opinions for anyone, making no apologies for either and wearing his abrasiveness like a badge of honor.
No one has ever gotten under Andie’s skin the way Chase does – and vice versa.

So when Andie and Chase find themselves forced to take a two-day road trip together, they are already dreading an inevitable all-out war.
But as the trip progresses, and the undeniable friction that has always defined their relationship slowly begins to wear away their preconceived notions of each other, Andie and Chase discover they both have a lot to learn about life, courage, happiness, and the age-old battle between logic and love.

Priscilla Glenn lives in New York with her husband and three children. She has been teaching English Language Arts at the middle and high school levels for the past eleven years while moonlighting as a writer, mommy, coach, student, and professional laundry-doer.

If you catch her when she's feeling sophisticated, she'll tell you her favorite things are great books and good wine. In the moments in between, she'll admit her love for anything Ben and Jerry's, UFC fights, and Robert Pattinson.

Glenn is also the author of the contemporary romance/YA crossover BACK TO YOU.

I Dare You.
Look Over Your
Shoulders.
Do You See Them?
They are behind you...
They are always behind you.

Abigail Cells had a nightmare the day before she met Gideon, the new guy in school who has every girl drooling just to be near him.
In her nightmare, she was murdered by a magical creature.

As she gets to know Gideon, she begins to remember pieces of her nightmare, and was shocked when Gideon turned out to be the creature from her nightmare.
Who is Gideon really?
Should Abby allow herself to fall completely for him, or is he the next disaster waiting to happen?

Excerpt

“I’m going to divide you into groups for our Titanic memorabilia speech, which if you all remember, is this week.” Mr. Bernard said. “Speeches are due before the week is over.”

One of the students murmured, “Oh, no.”

“Mr. Silas, you and Miss Cells will be group one,” Mr. Bernard said, looking at Tristan and me. “Miss Tate, you and Mr. Duran are—” Mr. Bernard was interrupted by the sound of the door as it busted open. Everyone looked toward the noise.

Standing in the doorway was the guy I bumped into. The moment I saw him, my heart dropped. I prayed he was lost and wasn’t in our class. Frankly, I didn’t understand my uneasiness upon seeing him. He gave me bad vibes.

“You must be Mr. Chase,” Mr. Bernard said, and the boy walked toward him.

“I am,” he answered. He looked around the classroom, and his gaze stopped on Tristan.

To my surprise, Tristan looked like he knew the boy because he gave him a half-hearted smile.

“You’re late,” Mr. Bernard said, and the boy looked at the clock on the wall.

“I was actually here before the bell rang.” His eyes moved to mine. “Miss Cells can vouch for me.” I froze at the mention of my name. I wondered how he knew my name, but then I remembered I was known pretty much everywhere—the price of being famous. “She bumped into me and ran off.”

Someone please shoot me now. A few people chuckled. Jake cast a backward glance at me and grinned.

“You’re excused this time, Mr. Chase. Find a seat. I’ll assign you to a group.”

“Mr. Chase can join Jake and me,” Danny volunteered. I wasn’t surprised.

“It’s Gideon,” the boy said. “Gideon Chase.”

“What?” I blurted out in surprise at the mention of his name, and then all eyes turned to me.

Gideon? His name was actually Gideon? Why Gideon?

“Miss Cells, are you all right?” My outburst had obviously startled Mr. Bernard. Gideon stood beside him, confused, but the moment his eyes met mine, he smiled as if he knew why I was scared.

“I—I’m sorry, I didn’t—” I looked down in humiliation.

Maybe it was just a coincidence. This guy couldn’t be the same Gideon from my nightmare.

“Well,” Mr. Bernard continued, “take a seat, Mr. Chase.”

My first impression of Gideon was that he was hot.

My second impression of him was dangerous.

My third impression of him was murderer, because if he was anything like the guy from my nightmare, he was going to kill me.

Sabine crossed her arms over her chest, smug and satisfied. "Kaylee pulled the Invisible Man routine in your room last night."

Nash turned to me, suspicion and disbelief swirling slowly in his eyes.
"Kaylee?"

Crap.

tick, tick, tick, tick, tick
it's almost
time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her — people with gifts — and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.

*MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS*
Probably the best day of this year so far was when I received ARC of Unravel Me! Of course I wanted to read it right away, and was glued to the book until the last page and I had to throw the book to the wall because it ended and needed to be punished for that. Okay, I know I should probably hug awesome books, but.. it's always so sad when a great book ends!

Back to the business! Remember how Shatter Me ended? Juliette and Adam finally got to safehaven underground and finally everything's gonna be alright! Juliette seems even happy!
But nono, that can't go on. Juliette doesn't fit in, since nowadays everyone knows her secrets and about her abilities. So even though she's among "her people", they're acting like "normal" people and think Juliette's too dangerous, surprise.
So there's only Adam for Juliette, but there's these insane rules about girls and boys living apart and then things get complicated and everything isn't so happyhappyjoyjoy. And eventually Warner shows up again!

Juliette is moody, wallowing, just throwing the pity party, and I'm loving it! She's throwing some crazy temper tantrums, too, and man.. Is there something wrong with me, because I think her temper tantrums are just awesome and would love to see them more? Probably.

The situation with Adam and Warner is also kinda crazy. In the first book it was pretty obvious who Juliette was going to end up with, but now.. I'm so confused!! I am just so in love with the psycho-Warner, and just want to see him happy! And I want to kick Juliette's butt for not choosing Warner right this second!
And no, I don't think they should be together so Juliette could change him, but they should be together because Warner isn't trying to change Juliette. Like in Bridget Jones, he likes her just the way she is. Yup, been thinking about this!

I haven't read Destroy Me yet *gasp*, so Warner's father was a completely new character to me. Definitely not a fan, and if you happened to notice my GR update I made while reading this, you know I was very, very happy when he got shot. To both legs. I'm not sadistic or anything, but some people just deserve it.
Warner's father also brings a little twist to the story, and when it was revealed, I was all "Of course!, why didn't I see that coming, that was like so obvious!", but still was a great twist.

What I didn't like? There wasn't much really. At some point I just got the feeling Juliette should do something else than just mope, but then again I sometimes wished she would mope even more, so what do I know!
I just wish things worked out better for Warner, and I don't always appreciate how Juliette treats him. Warner rocks, so.. please don't hurt him!
And sorry, I know this is going to be long, but.. I can't help myself!!

There was so many sweet moments with this book, but the absolute heaven for me was pages 392-405. I would love to quote all those pages, but I guess I should stick with something smaller. At least I try to keep it small.. ish.

Did you already notice there isn't any names mentioned? If you're curious, and just dying to know who is "he", click the next image. It's a spoiler, so.. Be careful! This also was a scene that made me hate Juliette for a while.
I so want to spoil this whole thing, but aaargh!, I can't! There was so many great mind blowing scenes, and I just want to spoil it all. Oh the agony.

My thanks to HarperCollins and Christine for sending me the review copy!

Monthly Recap: January 2013

tháng 2 01, 2013     Monthly Recap     No comments

Another month is over, oh my and when did that happen?? I've been working fulltime and some genious thought it would be a great idea to build your own house, and that's such an easy thing to do and really doesn't take any of my time! Yeah right. Thanks to Finnish law, we have to pay thousands of euros before we even get the permission to build the freaking house, and it's not even sure we'll get the permission. How awesome is that!? Holy f**k this pisses me off. Sorry for the language.

So, I've been pulling my hair and crying a lot, haven't really got any sleep lately, either.. Felt like I have no will to live anymore.. So it's amazing I actually managed to read like at least three books this month!

I read
